Over ten years ago the people of Rowan County voted for a .25 tax increase to build on to the jail and a new 9/11 Emergency Call Center. We raised millions of dollars and completed the projects. However, the commissioners never stopped the tax, they kept it instead.

That wasn't right, being our commissioners are all supposed to be Republicans and were elected to promote a conservative agenda and conservative policies. Like lowering taxes. Not giving the .25 tax back is another reason why our county taxes are so high.

With an over $60 million surplus for the county, we can afford to give that tax back. By stopping the .25 tax it would flood millions of dollars back into the community. It's the right thing to do and as your next true conservative county commissioner, I will fight to make sure that tax is stopped.
